Executive Director of Admissions
Kaplan Division: Kaplan University City: Fort Lauderdale State/Province: Florida Position Type Full Time Job Level: Executive Job Description Purpose of the Job/Principal Responsibilities: The Executive Director of Admissions is responsible for the management of the Admissions Department in their assigned facility and the overall performance of the team along with being the coach, motivator, and mentor of a management team (approximately 20-25 staff members). Additionally, this position has P&L responsibility. The goal of the EDOA is to instill a sense of team responsibility, team leadership, and ultimately improve the student start rate and retention rate through quality customer service, team performance, and follow up. An integral part of the EDOA position is to develop the management team to ensure the overall skill development of the team. Typical activities for an Executive Director of Admissions include: *Manages the day-to-day performance of teams and all ancillary departments around those teams. *Ensures teams meet their established recruiting cycle goals. *Analyzes statistics to detect positive/negative performance trends and develop action plans to increase/correct those trends. *Identifies team members who are not performing at expected levels of quality and quantity to meet their goals. *Ensures management team is properly administering performance management with Advisor teams. *Provides ongoing management coaching and training for all members of the management team. *Ensures your teams are appropriately staffed by conducting interviews for hire of prospective admissions advisors/management. *Oversees lead distribution to advisors to ensure the equal distribution of student information forms. *Works with shared services departments to ensure KU and team success. *Assists AVP of Admissions with special projects. *Prepares annual performance reviews for management. *Other tasks as assigned by Admissions Management. Experience Required: *Minimum of 7 years of directly related experience, preferably in either an on-line education or teleservices company in a senior managerial position. *In-depth working knowledge of financials, including budgets, P&L, etc. *Bachelor's degree from an accredited school required, preferably in a business discipline. MBA from an accredited school preferred. *Experience working within structured environment *Positive attitude and willingness to help others *Capable of accomplishing multiple tasks within specific periods of time *Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills *Superior knowledge of statistical methods *Strong communication and presentation skills *Positive attitude and willingness to help others Position Requirements /Scope of the Job/ Skills Required: *Must be able to work at least two evenings per week and periodic weekends if necessary *Ability to answer complicated Admissions questions accurately and in detail Measurement of Success: Executive Director of Admissions will be evaluated based on (a) ability of individuals and team to meet established performance metrics; (b) ability to analyze daily and weekly team tracking reports and take appropriate actions (c) ability to coach, train, and use coaching tools provided during training; (d) ability to work effectively and lead a team, both within and across Kaplan University departments; (e) team and student retention; and (f) attitude and enthusiasm.
