Jobing Description
The Registered Nurse provides medications and treatments to residents in accordance with physicians’ orders within state licensure regulations. This position oversees and promotes residents’ health and wellness through regular visits with each resident.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: * Review resident’s information and complete an assessment and a medical report prior to move-in to ensure that the community can provide for the individual needs and regulatory requirements have been fulfilled * Complete an assessment when changes in a resident’s condition occurs and as required by the community policy and state regulations * Assist the Director of Resident Services in developing and maintaining an up-to-date individual service plan for each resident * Maintain wellness files on all residents * Meet with each resident on a regular basis to provide health and wellness checks and answer any health-related questions * Maintain ongoing communications with residents, families, and physicians regarding ongoing medical needs * Review changes in residents’ conditions with the Director of Resident Services, Executive Director, and residents’ physician * Order medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and oversee resident medication schedules * Ensure proper documentation of medication assistance/administration * Assist in the training and supervision of certified nurses aides * Ensures that all infection control guidelines are met and reconcile controlled substances inventory * Assess and monitor health of residents and be on call for medical questions and resident emergencies * Coordinate and assist with any additional health services needs including resident transfers to and from a hospital or another facility * Assist in coordinating resident dietary needs with the Director of Food and Beverage * Maintain thorough knowledgeable of emergency evacuation procedures and assist as needed. * Understand and communicate fire and emergency procedures, hazardous materials, MSDS, and Community safety precautions. * Perform duties of shift manager and personal caregiver as needed * Facilitate OSHA training and assist with OSHA compliance. Assist in other health and wellness training programs and coordinate state-required training to ensure regulatory compliance. * Maintain availability to residents, management, staff, and families on a regular predictable basis following a prescribed schedule agreed upon with the Director of Residents Services. * Attend required meetings and training programs. Schedule may include on-call and/or emergency duties. * Perform other duties as requested This is a part-time position every other weekend. Skills / Requirements
* Must be a registered nurse currently licensed in the practicing state with a minimum of
1-2 years experience in an assisted living facility, hospital, or other health care facility * Prior supervisory experience desirable * Knowledge of OSHA Standards, Federal and State regulations and Fire & Safety Procedures is required. * Complete all state specific required training * Current CPR certificate required * Strong written and oral communications required * Strong working knowledge of nursing practices and standards for older adults and knowledge of applicable federal and state laws * Available to work day and evening shifts, weekdays, and weekends Important Notes
