Position Summary:

Responsible for the purchasing, contract management, storage and receipt of pharmaceuticals, solutions and supplies on a routine basis in addition to maintaining the physical inventory and verification of reimbursement as appropriate.

Position Expectations and Responsibilities:

Expected to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Expected to have intermediate mathematical skills. Expected to have computer skills, including word processing, wholesaler computer programs. Expected to demonstrate working knowledge of departmental and hospital based computer systems. Expected to be responsible for the Purchasing of Pharmaceuticals, IV Solutions and Supplies. Expected to do the maintenance and updating of the Cardinal computer system. Expected to perform all duties necessary to assist in ordering and maintaining appropriate levels and documentation of controlled substances Expected to be responsible for Maintaining and Performing Physical Inventory counts\ Expected to be responsible for the Management and Analysis of Pharmacy Purchasing Contracts Expected to perform Reimbursement Analysis on current and new drug entities. Expected to do the reconciliation of all Pharmacy Invoices in a timely manner. Expected to do the maintenance and charge outs of floor stock items utilizing the Pharmacy On-Line Floor Stock system. Expected to performa secretarial functions in the absence of Secretary II or III. Expected to maintain confidentiality. Expected to recognize and perform appropriate functions as needed or assigned. Expected to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Expected to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers and the general public.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
AND
One to three years of related experience in pharmaceutical purchasing and previous experience working as a pharmacy technician.
