Mission and Purpose
The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of South Florida (GLCCSF) is an organizing force within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community, serving as a source for information, education, advocacy and support.

The Center works to foster the personal development and quality of life of the community it serves, as well as to increase understanding and acceptance within the greater South Florida community.

History
In 1993, philanthropist and gay pioneer, Alan Schubert had an idea that in Ft. Lauderdale, a Gay and Lesbian Community Center would provide a safe place for all to meet. A center that would provide assistance to existing organizations born from the liberation battle and new groups in need of support so that all facets of the gay and lesbian community would be served. He shared his enthusiasm and vision with 200 volunteers and donors so that the dream became a reality. From closets into living rooms, from backgrounds into church basements, the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of South Florida has emerged as a status of pride, under-pinned with hope and passion.

Our Growth
From such humble beginnings, membership in the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of South Florida has grown and grown.  In June 2000, the Center found a new home in a 16,000 square foot building in the very heart of Fort Lauderdale,  With the physical expansion came tremendous growth in the Center's programs.  Activities at the Center are open to everyone and include:

            Exhibits, Concerts and Theatre performances
Dances, Bingo, Flea Market and Fund Social Activities
            Drop-in Socials for Seniors
